Tartu museums acquaint you with the history of the city, the key events of Estonian life and the culture of its inhabitants. Much here is associated with the University of Tartu, which includes several museums at once. The exhibitions of many institutions are interactive, which makes a visit much more interesting.

Today, there are more than twenty museums in Tartu. Some of them are located outside the city limits in a couple of dozen kilometers from the city. Their visit can be combined with a country walk.
Estonian National Museum is rightly considered the main museum in the city. Its exposition gives an idea of the culture and history of the Estonian people. There are also thematic temporary exhibitions.
Some of Tartu museums also have an entertainment function. These include the Estonian Aviation Museum and the Agricultural Museum. They are interesting for families with children.
