Estonian Sports and Olympic Museum

Estonian Sports and Olympics Museum introduces the history of sports and the sports culture of Estonia and its people. One of the institution’s purposes is to collect and preserve materials related to the republic’s sporting life and to make them available to the public. The museum operates with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Estonia.

Museum exhibition

The Estonian Sports Museum displays the awards won by Estonian athletes in various competitions and old sports equipment. The museum’s collection also includes historical photographs and documents. There is also a store at the museum, where you can buy themed souvenirs.

Tartu Sports Museum is considered one of the largest in the Nordic countries and the Baltics. In fact, it is a major center of sports culture where international seminars and conferences are held as well as thematic exhibitions. Part of the exhibition is virtual and involves the use of VR glasses.

Where is it located

The Estonian Sports Museum is located in the center of Tartu, just a short walk from Town Hall Square. Nearby are other important landmarks of the city, such as the Botanical Gardens and the main building of the University of Tartu. The branch of the museum is located in the winter capital of Estonia – Otepää, on the first floor of the building of Tehvandi sports complex.
